Happy World Tuberculosis Day!

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), Tuberculosis (TB) ranks as the second deadliest disease in the world after COVID-19. This fact highlights the importance of our efforts in overcoming the ongoing TB pandemic. India accounts for 27% of TB cases globally, making it the country with the largest number of TB cases in the world, followed by Indonesia and China.

Today, Indonesia faces an alarming reality: Tuberculosis cases have increased by 1.78 times from 2021 to 2022. In fact, the number of TB cases in 2023 reached 792,404. This data is a catalyst that shows we must not neglect efforts to eradicate this deadly disease.

Let’s make this day a reminder to raise awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection, and adequate treatment for TB. Collaboration and cooperation in providing improved and equal health services, including access to affordable treatment, should be our priority.

In health promotion efforts, every individual has a key role to play in ensuring health information can reach all levels of society, especially vulnerable groups, such as women, children, the elderly, disabled communities, and minority groups. Everyone can be an agent of change to encourage increased access to adequate health services.

Thank you for your attention and participation in the effort to eradicate Tuberculosis.
